Need a little motivation....

So this is the first time since I started working out that I skipped more than one workout day. :/ Well, besides when I got a nasty cold at the very beginning. Apparently it is important to not work out and get all sweaty and then go outside where it is freezing and play in the snow. Bad idea. Anyway, so for some reason I haven't been very motivated to workout and I skipped 2 DAYS! oops. I think I need a little google session with those motivational posters and 6-pack ladies. I'll get back on the horse. Just give me a veg day. Veg as in "vegitative state" and vegetables all day (example: couch potato eating carrots).

For some reason as I was just looking at the window that I am sitting by and wondered if I would be able to jump to the tree (tenish feet away) and grab the branches well enough if a zombie came into my room and I had to make a run for it. Way too many zombie movies lately....But hey that reminds me, maybe that could be my motivation to work out.... inspiration:

Anyway, so recently I have had problems with my body not really loving me. I might have just been an idiot and pushed it a little too hard, a little too fast. So with week 1 of all this madness, I didn't do any running at all, just the elliptical and only like 10 minutes of it, and by week 5 I was running a half hour, with no walking breaks and then doing my weight-routine and getting on the elliptical for another 20-30 minutes. Well my body didn't like that very much, to say the least. Having that long of a workout, didn't really leave me with too much time for warm ups and cool downs, and stretching was just a miniscule concern of mine.

So now when I have worked out I am ramping back up to running a half hour and leaving plenty of time for a ten minute warm up and a ten minute cool down, just to be on the safe side. Also, I have made stretching a bigger priority. I have completely cut out the elliptical on days that I run, and I am noticing a big difference in my recovery time.

And that is my entry for the day. I will get my motivation back. Best of luck to you, my one follower. Thank you for following. :)

My cute lil chart.....

This is my chart that I have used for the past 6 weeks. I have two more pages of 6 weeks each and then it will be January and time for the moment of truth.... :)

fitness blog?

"Fitness isn't about a crunch or a push-up, it's about taking your power back." -Unknown

On September 20, 2012 around 8:35pm, I decided to do just that.
My starting stats were as follows:
-150lbs.
-31.5" waist
-34.5" largest part of my waist
-12.25" left arm

This is not the first time that I have made this resolution to try this whole "lose-30-lbs" ordeal. I have tried countless times, and every time I have burned out and decided that I was satisfied with being overweight and unhealthy and that it was "natural" to be a little "fluffy". So what made this time different, you may ask?

Bruno Mars.

Jk.

So here it is, but just a warning, as with any fitness blog this is bound to be cheesy and inspirational. Get ready.

I pulled out the computer and made this beautiful chart to track my results. Like a chore chart from when I was a kid. I even went and got rainbow smiley stickers and everything. If I worked out- one smiley homo sticker for the day, and if I stuck to my diet, another smiley homo sticker for the day.(I'll post a picture of how cute it all is at a later date.)

I looked up probably 2 dozen inspirational quotes about not giving up...doing one more rep...blah blah, and I printed them, cut them into little strips and posted them all over my apartment.

I googled every picture of a girl with a six pack that I could possibly find online and I put it in a rotating picture frame in my phone background.

I found website after website of different 'workout routines' to try and 'ramping up to running an x amount of miles in x amount of time' and I read them while I ran my little face off.

I took my vitamins every day and got myself some vegan protein that tastes like heaven.

I made these nasty shakes full of spinach and carrots and oranges, that I am finally beginning to get the hang of, and now they taste good. (The key is cultured almond- its like yogurt, but vegan:) yum).

I hope this is painting a vivid enough picture. What I am trying to say, is that I have made it my top priority. I have made changes knowing that I was going to do this for the rest of my life and instead of trying to lose the weight by January and then eat all the tasty treats I want, I decided that this is going to be something that I am going to stick with, long after the belly flab is gone.

Anyway, it has been 6 weeks exactly from when I started with this whole lifestyle change, and I have never felt better. I can now jog up the 3 flights of stairs up to my apartment without wheezing and coughing at my door. I can run for a solid half hour and not throw up. :) My clothes are fitting better than ever and I might even have to buy a new belt soon so the goods stay clothed. Plus, I have biceps and triceps again! Want me to flex for you? Gladly. :)

My stats are as follows:
-140lbs
-29" waist
-32" largest part of my waist
-11.5" left arm

I am ecstatic about my results thus far and I can't wait until my birthday (which just happens to be my goal date...my final weigh-in for this 30 lb weight-loss journey... mwahahahaha).

I'm not really wanting to jinx my success, so I am not going to post any before and after pictures until the after is all completed. :)

I will probably post again later this week about my recent hip problems, and the supplements that I am taking and a little more about my diet. Until then, so long and happy halloween :)
